I'm a big fan of chocolate cake. You know what? Scratch that. Just chocolate. Then again, anything that can satisfy my sweet tooth and stop it from nagging me is fine. Let's face it folks: These ridiculously delicious snacks contain sugar (gasp), which is not good for us. :(
So let's find another way to indulge our sweet tooth. Sugary idioms! Tada! I know, we can't eat them. So, why even bother? C'mon! Let's give it a try.

you can't have your cake and eat it ( too )you can't enjoy both of two desirable but mutually exclusive alternative
the icing (or frosting ) on the cake: an attractive but inessential enhancement
The proof of the pudding (is in the eating): you cannot judge the value of something until you have tried it
