“So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone…”,as the Bible says in Galatians 6:10 since time immemorial. If doing good is that easy, why there are so many reminders for doing such? If it is simple as breathing, why people find it rigid to give? If it is an effortless act, why a human desires evil?
Merely, it is not easy, simple and effortless. On the contrary, doing evil can be done with ease, guiltless and blameless. Life is an irony sometimes I may say.
This is a challenge for humankind. Doing good even if it’s difficult, doesn’t pay off, depreciated, and uncommon in our age.
Who likes easy? Not me! How I love challenging situations, have been there so many times. I was challenged to do what is right, what is just, what is due. Hardships are all worth it, as always the fruit of good labor tastes the best. It doesn’t hurt much to do good, doing it on a regular basis becomes a habit, and as your days past, you will look for it, your day will never be complete without it, without the challenge to do good for other people. The rush feeling after doing a good deed, it is very relaxing and eventually you are now longing to feel that again and again.
But wait, there’s more! Science has spoken; doing good for others has an incredible impact to our health, to our being. Here are the good explanation can brought up scientifically;
1. Doing good decreases stress
2. Doing good increases life-expectancy
3. Doing good makes us feel better
4. Doing good makes us happier at work
5. Doing good promotes mental health
6. Doing good leads to happiness
7. Doing good will motivate you to do good again
So, I dare you guys to do good for other people, no measurement, no gauge, only a record in your heart and to the One that sees us. Name it, helping your mother finish house chores, play with your siblings, giving a meal to those who are hungry, smiling to people, no matter how simple it may seem, still it will be counted.
Nonetheless, don’t limit ourselves to do good to those who love or like us, continuously doing it even to those who hates us, revile us and reproach us. Everybody deserves good things in life, regardless of their gender, status, race, age, political or spiritual beliefs…all, no exception.
Now, the best thing to do is to spread the spirit of goodness. God bless all!

  • Dear Risty Aven... Thank you for sharing such a great blog... you did great talking about goodness and encouraging all to do good.... I am a Muslim yet I am open minded... I adore Mother Theresa..she has great quotes about love and goodness... She said:''The good you do today, will often be forgotten. Do good anyway. Give the best you have, and it will never be enough. Give your best anyway.''

    please keep writing.. wishing you all the best in life. :)
