Everyday we see some people around us who beg money from us for various purposes, i,e, to buy food, for treatment purpose, sometimes they say they need our help ( money) as they are not able to bear the expenditure of their daughters' marriage, even some beg money to buy shroud for their near ones and bla bla bla...
In my childhood when we came to our capital city, my parents used to give them some money and I felt good seeing them helping the poor needy people. Now I live in a big city, now I know most of the people who ask help to others are professional, I mean they are professional beggars! Sometimes they change their bagging places and way of asking help too. They play various tricks to the public to victimize them. Three years back I witnessed of a funny situation, then I was in front of my office, three or four beggars ( they took a disguise of disable persons who could not walk!) had been begging on the road and suddenly a car came and they got into so quickly, I just could not believe my eyes!
Not only in my country but also in rich countries I saw some people do begging everyday. They seemed to me healthy and they had sufficient clothing too but why they beg instead of working? I just can not understand it, is getting a job too hard over there? If it is too hard then at least they can do any messy job instead of begging on the roads.
One day (it happened abroad) I was ridding a bus. Suddenly a young man came to me holding a newspaper or something like that. He wore a nice shirt and trousers not seemed to me a beggar. He asked me something but I could not understand what he had said. Then a passenger near me told not to pay attention, I understood and kept silent. But I saw there were little cuts (scratches) on her hand and face, maybe intentionally he had cut or scratch because he seemed to me fit and healthy!
Over there, one morning around 10 a.m. I saw a man sleeping beside a very busy road ( temperature was 8/9c), yes, he covered himself with a blanket but it was not so clean and in my understanding was not enough for such a cold weather ( it is easy to understand at night it was colder). Actually I was waiting for a bus at a stop so I had some time to observe the situation, I saw the man get up, cross the road and approach the people who were eating outside a restaurant to beg for money! So, what to say?
But, yes, sometimes some people are really in need! Most of the time, they feel shy to beg or ask for any help. I saw such a type of an old guy in my childhood...we gave him food and some money. Yes, sometimes some people just can not find a job due to his age/lack of education/to be an illegal immigrant, or they do a very low paid job/work that they can not bear the expenses of their families (may be they have a big family and they were the sole incoming person of their families!)....the man who came to our place most probably was like that. But, that time I was a little kid otherwise if I saw him now I might have asked him why he came to us what is his shortfall? Yes, he looked so elegant and sober, he was so well behaved ( but he was poor!). I still feel bad when I remember him, wonder what was his shortcoming? He also did not seem to me too unhealthy, he seemed to me week and old enough not to do any hard work. I think, if I saw him now, I might have given him enough money so that he would never need to come anyone's place asking for it or food!
So, I think, we must ponder over who need our help and who does not!

thanks, dear sir!
Yes, dear, you can
Thanks, sir! But let me ask, so I should say...he seemed (to be) healthy to me. can I say..it seems it is going to rain soon? he seems (to be) like his father to me? It seems he is going to meet his friend?
Well, I haven't said that. I said your "fit like a fiddle" is wrong. And in this sentence the word order is wrong. It must be
He seemed (to be) healthy to me.
You may omit TO BE after SEEM
Danny sir, so if i say he seems to me healthy is it wrong?
Yes, Onee....it happens everywhere, thanks for commenting, dear!
Bet, I had a lot of stories in this case. Sometimes, I just shake my head wondering....
They really use this way to earn money, even though they are healthy.
Sometimes, a woman use a baby and the baby should die due to this practice.
Speechless. :(
Dear Bet, first of all, I mean your grammar. Besides, a FIDDLE or a FIDDLER may mean
1. a person who plays violin (you didn't mean that, right?)
2. a swindler.
So, I have told many times that SEEM must be followed by the infinitve.
The correct sentense is
""..he seemed to be a fiddler/swindler.."
I have no idea if there is any sense to start a writing challenge like that as such grammar is general knowledge and I have already posted a few blogs explaining the infintive
beautiful topic...
Danny sir,
"..he seemed to me fit like a fiddle". It is a very strange and doubtful expression. Do you mean he seemed to be a swindler?..I meant....he was very healthy!
Zivi sir, I do not know.....!
