The World Health Organization (WHO) just announced that eating processed meat or even red meat could cause cancer.
Appalling or unbelievable? Or, it's not such a concern for you, and you'll just ignore it and keep eating whatever you want to eat - especially if you are from an area where food shortage is such a problem.
It seems we eat some such meat every day, should it be ham, sausage, or bacon. What if we're warned not to eat any of them? Should all the products be removed from the shelf? And where should the meat go - dumped as garbage or to countries where people are so hungry?
Another question arises here: what the hell are we supposed or encouraged to eat? Just eat vegetables? Do we really need the nutrition - the protain of the meat? It's hard for some of us to imagine life without eating such meat, though. Maybe it's good news for vegetarians.
The WHO also implied that it was the amount that we should be aware. Yes, it may mean if you don't eat too much, then it's okay. Then how much is too much? Does 'one sausage a day' sound like too much or appropriate?
We tead to eat what tastes or looks great and may fail to be aware of what the ingredients are. Maybe it's not a good idea now if we are really concerned about our health, even though you've not got carcinophobia.
What's the cost to eat healthy? Is it hard for you to avoid all the delicious food? Let's talk about it.

Hi saba,
Yes, you can say that again. If the processed meats are really harmful, why do they keep producing them. The government should make sure we're eating healthy food.
Thanks.
It is hard for children to avoid all the delicious food and adults can't prevent them not to eat sausage,.....
Therefore, it's the duty of food factories to produce healthy food for children.
Hi Blessing,
Thanks for the comment. 'Red meat' doesn't mean 'raw meat', but it can be eaten uncooked. I'm not sure if it's better to eat raw meat, though.
It seems people don't really take the warning seriously - people here keep eating whatever they usually eat. They may have a reason to do so.
@mitran
Thanks for the comment. It seems to be a good idea to eat more veg and fruit than processed meat or red meat. Besides veg or fruit, you can choose fish, chicken or eggs if you also care about nutrition.
@setareh
Yes, it seems we need to pay attention to everything we eat. Unhealthy food are everywhere, and some of them are too delicious or enticing to turn your back on.
Thanks!
Sorry, I meant 'meat' by 'meant':))
Thanks again Batuhan, Onee!
@Luci
Yes, processed meat is a convenience and usually delicious. So, for those who can't find time to cook, it's a good choice. I do cook, but if the processed meat was not linked to cancer, I'd have some such food from time to time.
Now, I'll think twice before I try to eat the processed meat or even the red meat. Thank you!
Oh, I thought it was this.....no.7 (It's harmful when heated)
@MARY
Great! You do have a point there. I wonder if the conclusion did cause some panic when it was first announced. Some people may have overreacted to the news. Yes, people have reason to question the announcement - arguable!
@Onee
I'm pleased that you're interested in this topic. Maybe I should be more careful about what I eat. I eat so-called processed meat almost every day. I didn't think there was something wrong with it until the WHO publised the research conclusion, even though I'm a doctor.
It sounds that you're so careful about what you eat, though. More veg should be beneficial to our health. I love fish, too. So, I could have more fish rather than eat processed meat or red meat.
@Mishaikh
Thanks!
@Batuhan
Yes, you can say that again. It's not a good idea to be too picky about what you eat. How about processed vegetables? Maybe it's carcinogenic, too. Anyway, we do need to eat something to keep living in the world. By the way, what do you mean 'gallon'?
@Afro
Nice comment. We do know what we're supposed to eat for the sake of our health. But, sometimes, you have no choice. And, they keep providing what's not healthy food.
Some people don't care about what to eat, while some others couldn't be more careful. I agree that it's wise to be careful about what you're trying to gobble.
Yes, chicken or fish seems to be safer to eat.
