Ashura

Ashura means the tenth of Muharram; the Arabic month that comes after the month of Hajj in the Arabic lunar calendar. Today is 10/10/2016 which corresponds to 09/1/1438. What is the story behind this day? When prophet Mohammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came to Medina he found the Jewish fasting on this day. He told them what was that day and they explained that they did this to thank God because the Israelites were freed from Pharaoh, the king of Egypt at that time, on that day. The prophet told them that he and his followers had the right to fast on that day, more than the Jewish. He ordered the Muslims to fast on Ashura, but they must fast one day ahead of it or one day before.

In hadeeth, the fasting of Ashura atones the sins of the previous year. It also commemorates with the martyrdom of Al Hassan bin Ali, the grandson of Prophet Mohammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Some Muslims consider it a sad day. We are fasting now to gain the favor of Allah and wipe the sins of the previous year. I should have published it yesterday to remind my fellow Muslims about it. But they can fast tomorrow and the day after.

ASHURA IS NOT DAY OF FASTING IT IS HARAM TO FAST AS BANNI UMMYAH FAST AFTER MATTERED IMAN HUSSAIN AS ,SO IF ANY ONE WHO IS CONSIDER ASHURA SAD DAY AS IT IS CELEBRATED SAD DAY ALL OVER THE WORLD TO REMEMBER IMAM HUSSAIN AND HISS FELLOW SACRIFICES,SO ONE WHO IS WITH AGGRESSOR ,KILLER TAKE FAST BUT ONE WITH OPPRESSORS AND WITH TRUTH SHOULD NOT FAST,FASTING AND CELEBRATING ON ASHURA IS YAZEED SUNNA,SO PEOPLE WITH HUSSAIN DID NOT FAST AND NOT SHOUW HAPPINESS ADN CELEBRATE AS SAD DAY.

Khaili mamnoon doste khobam Yara! You are quite right my dear friend. Mr. Mohammad, my friend from Qom stated the same and he showed that some information were wrongly understood or translated. He told me that some people fast because they are happy that the grandson of Prophet Mohammad was assassinated on that day. Of course, a true believer cannot think like that. Can you visit my page again and see The Wedding? I really appreciate those nice and informative words about Ashur.

That's unfortunate for we muslims that there are mind-blowing stories behind These sacred days such as The tenth and first of Ashura But we are in the dark about them, even thought we fast on these days.

My bad! I fasted on the tenth of Ashura without giving myself a break Ufff...

I don't know why Mullahs preach people in a complicated way, giving them confusing advice to fast on Ashura...

BTW, Ashura is a major religious commemoration of the martyrdom of Hussain, They never go with what we choose....

Thanks dara gino for your post.Sin is disobeying the laws.If human being learn how to adapt the situations and respect his oppositions,doesnt need Fast,doesnt need to be atoned.Ashura is just a day in year.what about the other days of the year?...
