Are you....?

"Are you following me?", these words have two faced coin for me. One is dreadful and the other is humorous.

It was late afternoon or I should say early evening, a dusk moment. On my way home after the whole day of work, the normal me will just utter my silent prayer and thank God for His help to consummate the whole day work (because I believe I can never do this alone). My house is just a walking distance from my office, as I turned left at the corner of Aster Clinic opposite of Adnoc Gas Station, I saw one man standing at the front of our building's entrance. He wore the national attire of Pakistani Guy, the Shalwar Kameez. He looked at me, I did the same, I saw something in his eyes, I got bit scared but I don't show any trace of that fear to my face. I just continued my walk towards the main passage of Aster Bldg B, where my flat is located. As I walked through, I noticed that the guy "that seems to wait for someone" turned around and followed me in a very discreet manner, he kept some space between us so I will not perceive that he is "following me".

I walked fast because I know somebody was following me, I'm very conscious and cautious about this kind of situation because I experienced this before numerously, I don't know why? Maybe they thought I am an easy prey, mistakenly thinking that they can overpower me just because I'm slender.

Back to the story, all of a sudden and to my dismay, he was at my back and it was obvious that he was after me. He didn't enter the elevator and wait for me to go first, my mind thinks fast and I surprised him that instead of the lift, I chose the stairs to go up. To elevate the terror that I am feeling, he followed me to the stairs, I ran and heard that he was running too. I silently prayed that God will give me the knowledge to overcome this distressful occurrence that I'm in. I almost cry that time, but I preferred not. I know God will help me and He will never forsake me. Instantly, I remember that on the second floor, there is a gym for men, I ran as fast as I could and unexpectedly stopped near to the gym's door and wait for that "jerk" to come, and he did. He was shocked that I was standing there and facing front to him and I shouted with all energy and force that I may give. "ARE YOU FOLLOWING ME?! ARE YOU FOLLOWING ME?!", luckily one guy from the gym went outside and saw us with that scene. The guy that was following me looked hesitant to answer and he continues his walk upstairs without saying any word.

When I confirmed that he was really gone, I ran to the elevator and pushed all the floors button, well just in case he return. I thanked God for His guidance that I reached home, shaking. (haha!).

I told all of my housemates regarding that experienced I went through and they affirmed that there are cases like mine, the Pakistani guy will accompany some "alone girl" to the lift and molested them inside. It happens many times, and just like me, they experienced the same. (Well, I'm not generalizing Pakistani people, because I also have some Pakistani friends in my office), but those uneducated who always roams around and grab every opportunity to take advantage of women are so disgusting.

Now, when we talk about that incident, we can't help but laugh because my friends know that if that happens again, I will not regret to break my phone to any guy's head next time. So be warn.

So, how about you EC girls, have you experience the same scurrility or any abusive gestures before? Can you share it here and give me some useful tips to escape the scenario in the future.

Thanks and God bless to us!

  • My dulcinea Vangie, I will consider Frank's advice, thank you. And about the words you have noted, what I meant was I don't care about men, about their morality, but that doesn't imply that I will let them abuse me in whatsoever acts. Heaven forbid! hahaha!

Thank you, thank you Dearest! God bless!

  • Hello Expector , I'm you find blog enjoyable, though the topic is quite terrible. Hahaha! Thank you for dropping by and reading this. God bless
  • Serene dear, you motivate me with your meaningful words. I write blogs to release some inner tension from within, I'm not expecting that people will find it useful but here you are telling me that this writing pushes you to read. Thank you so much!
  • Great! I enjoyed reading this blog. Keep it up!

  • I like to read your blog! Your writing pushing me to read and leaving comments.

    Keep writing dear.

  • Hello Rajib, thanks for commenting here, but how to grow up the morality of men? well, to be honest, I don't care about their morality as long as it doesn't concern me.

    Thanks and God bless!

  • My Serene, as you can see I don't have any idea as well why I magnets such situation. I wear conservative dresses and I don't have provocative attitude towards men, so why??

I see this as my training ground on how to be tough, strong and smart all the time. I should not put my guard down and you are right it should be alert most of the time that I am outside.

Thanks, Serene, I really appreciate that you dropped by here.

  • Oh I am very shocked to read that article. We are living in a modern world but our mentality is being uncivil day by day. Actually it is a matter of respect. Specially if we failed to respect woman then we can not achieve the real environment. How to overcome this situation it is not a big question I guess. How to grow up the morality of men may be it is a big question .

  • Dear Risty! So sad, you had to experience such odd things. Be alert dear.

In Asian countries, such things happen so often. We can't do much rather focusing on self-confidence , we need to alert for each sound or too cautious to getting trapped. we need to learn the technique from being an attack.

  • Frank, you've used that before? I can remember my father bought me a pen but it was really a knife. Thanks for the tip, I will check where to buy that... but you know I'm more fascinated to stun guns... hahaha!

Thanks for dropping by and leaving useful comments. God bless!
