Aral sea

I published this post in the Welcome to Kazakhstan group almost a year ago,but I'm sad to know, that only one people read it there so far.

That's why I thought to add it as a blog here, maybe more member will face with the serious problems of our Earth,to preserve nature more in order to avoid such catastrophes in the future.....

When I found this page about Aral see in Kazakhstan,I was shocked to know how it has reduced to the tenth of its size, because of human intervention.

-A schocking picture-

where once the sea used to be,now there is a desert land:((

(fishing ships staying now in the middle of the desert,as the sea had disappeared)

"Fishing used to be big business on the Aral Sea in Kazakhstan. That was before the man-made environmental catastrophe that left the sea a tenth of its original size. Rusting hulks of the old fishing ships lie wrecked on what was once the seabed, kilometers from where the sea is now."

Read more about it here....

the sad reality NOW

and ONCE

Aral sea once and in the present
Do you know more about it,why did it happen?

  • Dalai Lama "Adopting a wider perspective includes working cooperatively with others. Crises that are global by nature, such as problems related to climate change or the modern economic structure, call for coordinated and concerted efforts among many people, with a sense of responsibility and commitment - this is more encompassing than any individual or personal issue."

  • Hello Winapow and Anele!

as you an see,R-O-D-i gave a nice explanation why the aral sea has reduced to the 10th of its original size.Because of the human exploitation of the nature and greediness to culture more lands,at the expense of the natural sources,in this case:the sea!

@Anele:My purpose was to present what can cause, when benighted human intervention happens to the natural processes.....so doomy:(
