And a joke and seriously.

Today I heard a new joke for me and decided to share it. It sounded like this: "Sometimes people know many languages, but they cannot say a single good word to other people." It wasn't about me :).
So what do you do with your knowledge of languages? I think that everyone who has gathered here knows or at least understands at least two. Does it help the world? Is it enough or not?
I hope to write historical articles in the future to clarify some international nuances. Perhaps, I will soon share some of my essays here. "Perhaps" because I know that their topics and focus will not be of interest to everyone.
I do not urge to be accountable for your achievements, desires and opportunities. It's just that today this phrase made me think about my life and I hope that I will make the world a little better.

  •        To be honest with you my friend, since I was a little girl my mother has taken the chance to dream and hardly did her best till it became true. Her dream was all about her children and their future. She had a deep thought that; learning more than one language is giving them many chances to enhance their life with more opportunities.

Nowadays my siblings and I speak two languages, English and French, beside Arabic which is our mother tongue. At the beginning we struggled with these foreign languages. But then we were moved easily by our mother’s encouragement, believing in our abilities and high self-esteem which our mother planted it into our souls.

Finally, learning languages in my opinion is vital for success. God bless you.

    • I totally agree with you, dear friend, about learning languages.

It seems your mom is a very wise and thoughtful woman.

Lord's every blessing for you, all your family, especially for siblings and mom!

  • writing is good, learning language is hard work but speaking is hardest part. So communicate as much as possible.

    • Yes, I agree.

  • i'm always speechless when talking another language... its like.. hey.. i know those words.. I understand it... but  I can't seem to say out loud .. =D

    • =D     :)    ;)   My best wishes for your improving!

  • Hi Augustina,

So, when a person have a talent, it should be beneficial for others.

We should make the world better. Best wishes.

    Thank you for sharing.

    • Hi!

    • Thank you, I'll take into account:)

  • Hi, Augustina, those are good intentions, I'm looking forward what you're going to share here. :)
I used to give technical help in a forum for open source software for years, and I also coded some easy software hacks for people who couldn't do that themselves. I don't have time for that at the moment. I still write 4 hours per week in an other forum for teenagers in need about psychotherapy, psychological techniques and skills that help them to get through the day. Here on EC I answer sometimes easy questions when I feel my knowledge of English is high enough to give a useful reply. ;-)
