An Interview

I have lots of working experience on my credit.  I have worked in the field of marketing, export, import, admin, secretarial.  I know how to do correspondence related to these matters with commercial and government authorities.   So whenever I structure my curriculum vitae I mentioned all about these experiences.

Before my current job, I had been sending my applications to innumerable organizations and appeared in various interviews, which I had gone through with very confidence, but never ended up in a job offer.  Once a friend of mine, who was my previous colleague, too, told me that his boss had asked him about me, when he saw my application, and being in the same company previously he recognized to be his colleague.  “Do you know this person?”  My friend affirmed.  His boss praised me, but remarked “too much experience!”

Then I changed my CV and mentioned just dates and duration of my different jobs with different companies.  I was immediately called for an interview by my current employer.  During the Interview I tried to explain my job experiences, but stopped by the interviewer.  “No, we do not need all this, you just have to assist our managing director in his day to day works, which I am sure you can handle, so join right now!”

This was an interview which I consider worth mentioning here.  It has deep thinking for my readers…….

  • Eva,

Sometimes it happenses especialy in a country like mine. In an organization sometimes the immediate bosses  are victim of inferioity complex.  It is considered that if a person with too much or higher experience is hired, he/she might overpass them, so they become reluctant  to employ such person.

This is what I am seeing in one of the departments of the organization I am presently working.

The CFO of the company is not up to the mark of his position, but some how he holds this position.  So he does not hire any person of more qualification than him.  Or in case the higher management employ any qualified person, this CFO create so much hardship form them that they are forced to leave the job.
