American English or British English?

Hello EC friends!!I think it's time I set a topic ,too!I don't know if it has ever been discussed before!Well, the topic i would like to hear your opinions about concerns the two types of English language,-American English-Bristish English-.As we all know, there are several differences between those two types. The most important of them have to do with the vocabulary and different meanings of it.In addition, many same words are written and spelled differently.Furthermore, who couldn't right away distinguish the British from the American accent! To me,both types have helpful elements to offer to english speakers.British sound a bit distant, but classy at the same time, and American can be more vivid and in a friendly mode.I think i use a combination of those two types! What about you?Do you have a specific preference?Do you like one of them a bit more?I'd be happy to hear your point of view!Share your thoughts : )

  • Ika,I agree with you !

Legend,I disagree here..I think American English is a lot easier to pronounce with practise, wherever you live!On the contrary,British can sound correct only by British people or somebody who's lived in Uk for a really long time! Thanks both for dropping a comment :)

  • Hello Viviana!By reading your comment too,i conclude that opinions on the two types are divisive !But it's a matter of taste eventually! Thanks for letting us know your tendency also :)
  • Thanks Ian,your preference makes sense :D

You are right Nida,it's all English after all :)

  • I love English, whether it is British or American.

However, I admit that British English is CLASSY and ROYAL as compared to American English.

  • Hey Andriana,

I LOVE my own British accent, but i'm biased :D
