A STAR'S FAREWELL

I've always been more interested in music from the 50's, 60's or 70's than the music from my time. I'm a music lover and I love rock and pop music from back then; I think about it as the 'golden times' of popular music.

I can't remember when I listened to Bowie's music for the first time, but I remember to feel curious about how it was the Glam Rock in the '70's. And, of course, Bowie was the absolute King of that, so I guess that's why I looked for his music and art.

For me, the main message I got from Bowie's music and performances was to have the courage to be whatever you want to be, no matter what anybody might think about it. To set you free from social roles and standards.

Bowie's music also encouraged us to "don't be afraid to changes; to turn and face the strange". And reminded us that "We'll be heroes", at least for one day"...

Thank you Mr. David Jones.
I hope your star keep shining out there.
You'll be missed down here.

  • Space Oddity is one of my favorite songs.

Here is a picture of Bowie when he was young. 2643534802?profile=original

  • Right Estanis, but I think more than 2 generations, because his music will keep being an influence for many musicians. Thanks for your comment :)

Gerardo! I don't know why you found out that 'the man who sold the world' is a Bowie's song thanks to me, because I didn't mention that song here :D
I think that's one of the most popular Bowie's songs; I listened this song for the first time in a cover made by Nirvana. I think lot of people know that song played by many other musicians, but not because of the Bowie's original version.
Anyway, it's a great song. Thanks for your comment :)

Lady Anne, thanks for sharing this great duet. I love Tina Turner's voice :)

Hey Eva! Thanks for your comment and your nice words (as usually) :)

  • I am not a fan of David Bowie but I did like his duet with Tina Turner in "Tonight".  He really looked gorgeous in his younger years.

His duet with Anne Lennox (Under Pressure) is also wonderful to hear.

  • Hello Mary, thanks to you, now I know "The man who sold the world" was written by Bowie. I´m so ignorant... LOL

Have a nice day my friend.

  • Indeed he was a role model for two generations. Nice tribute Mary.
