- A journey with an old lady
That was my first visit to USA. I took Cathay Pacific (Hong Kong) Airline. This airline have a short stopover at Bangkok. There was an old lady sitting on a seat in one or two rows yonder of mine. She could not speak English, only her native and Urdu. I heard her talking to her neighbor from which I understood that she was also going to USA to see her son.
The Bangkok stopover arrived and the passengers whose destination was Bangkok started to move towards exit. I was surprised to see that old lady was also moving towards the exit. Before I go to her to ask why she was getting off, she was gone too far. I assumed that she was wrongly got off. May be the airhostess would have asked her and she could not understand English what she was saying. She just nodded.
Anyway the flight took off once again to Hong Kong. There I had to wait for 8 hours for next flight to Los Angeles.
In the evening when I reached the gate of my flight, I saw that old lady sitting on one of waiting seats. I immediately went to her, she smiled seeing me.
“Why did you get down at Bangkok?” I asked her in Urdu. She told me that she didn’t know what the airhostess was saying and she got off the plane with airhostess.
“So how did you come here?” I was curious. She told me that when they realized their mistake. They got room for her in a hotel, fed her well. Took her to tour the city, then got her on to the next plane to Hong Kong.
So this was what happened with that old lady, but with happy ending.

Knowing English language is so important in traveling abroad.
Thanks noona for comments and liking my story.
@Elen
Yes, this is the responsibility of airline. You know when a passenger is late to get on board, they make continuous announcement to get on board. I have seen at Behrain airport, the airline staff was calling the passenger just like a bus conductor do in my city.
I don't know if it is responsibility of airline to take care so much old people who confuse their flight. They deserve congratulations anyway! Thanks Mishaikh for sharing this story!
Thanks Seeker!
@setareh
Yes as I said earlier the only barrier was the language, otherwise the lady was as fit as fiddle.
Thanks Peppo for the nice comment.
@naoslpls
The lady was active in physical, the only barier was the language.
