Today, I'll continue learning 7 new words about "beauty".
Hmm, so what adjectives can I use describe a building or to say our feeling towards it?
beautiful, breathtaking, impressive...? what else?
Well,it's time to adopt some new words before I get annoyed with my limited vocabulary :D
Now, when you evaluate a building you can:
A describe it physically
B say how effect it has on you
Look at the adjectives below and decide which category they fit in, A or B.
evocative (1) overawed (2) melancholic thoughtful ancient spacious
humbling (3) ecstatic (4) overjoyed (5) nostalgic (6) overwhelmed
dazzling (7) majestic

(1) evocative: making you remember or imagine sth pleasant
Ex: evocative music, an evocative sound of the sea
(2) overawed: feeling respect but slightly afraid of sth that is extremely impressive or powerful
Ex: Some players were totally overawed by playing their first game at the national stadium.
(3) humbling: making you realize that you are not as important, good, or clever as you thought.
Ex: It's a humbling experience to see ppl so possitive about life when they have so little.
(4) ecstatic: extremely happy
Ex: The new president was greeted by an ecstatic crowd.
(5) overjoyed: extremely pleased and happy
Ex: Helen was overjoyed when she heard she got the job.
(6) nostalgic: feeling happy but slightly sad when you think about things that happened in the past
Ex: Talking about our old family holidays made me feel nostalgic.

(7) dazzling: extremely attractive and exciting
Ex: a dazzling performance/ display, a dazzling smile
feeling slightly afraid of something that is extremely impressive or powerful

And by keeping enlarging your word source, you have a better chance of coming up with a more precise words :)
"Gorgeous" is specific to talking about the beauty of a woman in English.
Women really like to hear that as a compliment when they are dressed-up.
But used in the wrong context, they might feel you are insincere!
Don't call her "Gorgeous" after she just woke up in the morning.
The best thing to do when describing beauty is pick just the right word for what you are talking about.
So a good vocabulary of descriptive adjectives is what you want to collect!
