I always believe that the initial purpose why main room was created is that members have a place when they can learn English in fun ways. Well, of course the definition of fun is something constructive to build up people and not to destroy them.
Sometimes, it is boring to chat about serious topics on main room, especially when we have a boring day or just don't have a good mood for something serious. Well, then maybe we can play games on main room.
These last three months I have seen some members play good games on main room to entertain themselves. I want to show my appreciation by writing those games on my blog. I hope it will inspire another members to suggest more fun, constructive games on main room:
1. 20 Questions Game
I saw this game was suggested by Darius. I don't know who was the first member who suggested this game. So, this is how this game played: one member will be the leader. He will think about something. For instance he thinks about certain job such as English teacher.
Other members will have to guess by asking questions. Members need to be creative with the questions since the answer will be "yes" or "no". They can ask as many questions as they can. Sometimes, the leader will give some hints to ease other members to ask and guess the answer. For each question a member asks, the member should try to give his/her best guess about what the leader thinks (for this example, the leader thinks about "English teacher").
The winner is the member who can guess what the leader thought. And, he will continue the game by thinking something that other members can try to guess.
2. Riddle Game
This game was brought by our new chat room moderator, Heaven. I think this game is pretty easy to explain. But, it is quite hard to answer (at least to me). Like the game above, one member will be the leader and will ask a riddle. The winner is the one who can guess the riddle.
3. Idiom Game
In one version, members will have to use as many as English idioms they know on their chats. While the second version, one member will act as a leader and he or she will ask the meaning of an idiom while the others will try to answer. Of course, they can't cheat by checking the answer on the Internet or dictionary.
4. Continue Sentences Game
On this game, one member will write a sentence. And, the other member will have to continue by writing a new sentence that is started by the last word from the first member. OK, my explanation seems confusing. I will tell you an example:
Member A writes: "I like to drink coffee very much."
The last word is "H". So, another member will have to write a sentence starts with "H".
Member B: Harry Potter is a famous movie.
The last word is “e”. So, the next member should start to write a sentence with word “e” and so on.
What do you think, guys? Do you have any other games to offer, friends?
Note:
If you find mistakes on my grammar, please correct me :)

@ Yasemin
That seems like an interesting game. What should the game be called? We should try to play it in the main room.
Hello again,
For example, I will start the game with a question. My question is "Which city is the capital city of Turkey", then others will answer if they know. The first one who gives the correct answer will be asking the next question. But, the person who asks the question related to general culture must be sure about the answer so that no quarrel occurs during playing.
Hope we can play it!
@ Josef
Thank Mr. Josef :)
@Heaven
Thank Heaven. I tried to play a continue game yesterday. Maybe we need to play games more often in the main room :)
@Mitran
Lol. OK, Mitran. Don't worry about jokes and humor senses.
@Sahar
I hope I can see you join on our games. I will check those groups and probably can use some games there. Thanks for your links.
@Yasemin
That sounds like an interested game. Can you give us some examples? Maybe we can try that in the main room as well :)
Once, as a crowded group in a chat (but not in MyEC chat) we played a game. Each of us was asking a question related to general culture. The first one who gave the right answer was the one to ask the next question. We really enjoyed it. I hope to play this game in EC chatroom too.
Thanks Ario. I really appreciate your efforts...
Very Nice!
I am so interested in playing games for learning English.
We also had it in BEST group in The Best Game discussion which led to creating Games group.
I like to play those games which you named in the main room of chat room, they seems so interesting :)
Thank you and for sharing it.
hiks..hiks...Teacher Ario, lol..Teacher is younger than student..hahaha....
Please don't mind with my crazy comments, I learn my English with my humour sense. If I'm serious...Goshhh...I'm going to sleep at one. I mean : sleepy.
And with your level....No doubt, You can teach me that don't need any help from our Teachers. Just.....please don't punish me, sometimes, I will be lazy. Promise? :)
@ Mitran
Lol. OK, let's learn English together. If I can't teach you something, I'll ask my other English teachers here...lol. Don't worry I have some English teachers here to help us :D
@Ann
Thank Ann. Maybe we could have an honor to have you join us someday ;)
